Movie theater gunman ID'd as former TPD Capt.

Wesley Chapel, FL -- We now know the identities of those involved in today's shooting inside the Cobb 16 theater in Wesley Chapel, and it turns out the gunman is a retired Tampa Police officer.

Sheriff Chris Nocco identified the gunman as 71-year-old Curtis Reeves. Reeves retired from Tampa Police about 20 years ago at the rank of captain.

Boil water notice issued for New Port Richey area

New Port Richey, Florida - New Port Richey city officials have issued a precautionary boil water notice due to a water main break on Cecelia Drive.

Judge to Welden: Abortion pill probably caused miscarriage

Tampa, FL -- A federal judge sided with prosecutors Friday, finding the abortion pill that John Welden slipped his ex-girlfriend is what probably caused her to lose their pregnancy.

The decision from the evidentiary hearing will almost certainly mean a longer sentence for Welden.

John Welden left Tampa's federal courthouse unwilling to stop for comment or express remorse. But in less than three weeks, he'll be back before the same judge for sentencing under a plea agreement that would send him to prison for more than 13 years.

Woman given abortion pill by ex-boyfriend will not testify

Tampa, FL -- The woman who accuses her ex-boyfriend of ending their pregnancy by secretly giving her an abortion pill will not testify after all.

Federal prosecutors in Tampa had planned to call Remee Jo Lee to the stand, but the judge in the case consulted with attorneys and decided he had heard enough without Lee's testimony.

Naked man slaps officer in face

Lutz, Florida -- A 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he attacked a deputy responding to a call about a naked man causing a disturbance outside a Lutz home.

The deputy arrived at the home in the 1800 block of Tinsmith Circle around 6 a.m. after a neighbor called police to report Morris Reynolds was "completely naked and jumping up and down awakening and startling neighbors."
