After almost two years of renovations, and the re-design and additions to the historical displays with help of a professional curatorial consultant, the West Pasco Historical Society Museum and Library is ready for their Grand Re-opening to the public.

The Grand Re-Opening Open House will take place at the museum, 6431 Circle Boulevard, in downtown New Port Richey (near Sims Park by Orange Lake), on Saturday, September 10, 2011, from 10 a.m. -4 p.m. beginning with a ribbon cutting. There will be food and entertainment and a “first look” at the refurbished exhibits. Hurricane date will be the following Saturday, September 17.

A Celebration Dinner will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 6 p.m. at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Avenue, New Port Richey. Dinner tickets are $30.00. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Donors will be recognized on the donor wall inside the Museum. For reservations or information please call Bob Hubach at 847-0680.

The Sponsorships will enable the West Pasco Historical Society to maintain the work that has been done and to provide new and expanded opportunities to serve the community:

  • Expand the Museum “open hours” to five days a week
  • Orient and train volunteers to conduct tours, serve as docents and staff the museum
  • Schedule regular educational programs for students at the Museum and in the schools; also for community organizations
  • Develop and produce videos of West Pasco history (new topics)
  • Promote the Museum to the public
  • Rotate collections and displays; develop traveling displays
  • Maintain and continue to update the Museum and the collections
