Pasco EDC Unveils Logo for New Business Incubator

Pinellas County, Florida -- SMARTstart is the name unveiled by the Pasco Economic Development Council for the new business incubator in Dade City. It was unveiled on Tuesday, April 9th at Dade City’s City Commission meeting. The new logo was received with overwhelmingly positive feedback from council members and other community partners.

“Choosing the incubator’s name was no small task,” said John Hagen, president and CEO of Pasco Economic Development Council, Inc. “We started with a list of 95 names, narrowed the list down to our top ten and unanimously agreed on SMARTstart." The name fit perfectly with the type of companies being targeted, simply, companies looking to get a “smart” start and need help building their business from the ground up. The striking new logo evolved from 12 different logo styles and 12 color options. “We didn’t want to just throw together a name and logo. We put a lot of thought behind it,” said Hagen, who explained the triple meaning of the logo. The image in the logo is obvious at first as it displays the universal symbol of a power button. In addition to powering start-ups, the blue line in the logo represents the entrepreneur, and the circle surrounding it represents all of the resources available to the entrepreneur. These resources include the Pasco Enterprise Network, USF Small Business Development Center, Saint Leo University, and Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce. The term “incubator” is widely recognized across the globe among entrepreneurs. Taking a third look at the logo one might envision the term “incubator” as a modern-style egg and an entrepreneur hatching out of it.
