Pasco residents invited to sound off on redistricting maps

Pasco County, Florida – The Board of County Commissioners is required to develop a redistricting plan every decennial census to keep Commission Districts as nearly equal in population as practical, and there is a similar provision to keep school board member residence areas nearly equal as practicable.

Due to these provisions, Pasco County staff has been working on different options to give the respective boards an opportunity to review the revised maps, giving them four primary redistricting options.  A joint work session between the School Board and the Board of County Commissioners was held on August 16, 2011. The Boards developed a consensus to move forward with Option Four.

The Board of County Commissioners will take public comment on September 20, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. on this option or any other option presented for consideration.

Lutz, Florida -- As more industries require extensive background screening for employment and licensure, a local UPS Store located at 23110 State Road 54 @ Collier Pkwy (store #1819) is now offering Live Scan fingerprinting by Cogent 3M to fill the need for the service.

Live Scan fingerprinting refers to the technique and technology law enforcement agencies and private facilities use to electronically capture finger and palm prints via laptop computers and fingerprinting scanners, without using the more traditional method of ink and paper.

“You’d be amazed at the various industries that require fingerprinting nowadays,” said Elise Mysels, The UPS Store #1819 owner. “By adding Live Scan to our services offerings, we provide teachers, realtors, healthcare and legal professionals, and government workers with a convenient location and efficient service.”

Pasco County, Florida -- A Florida orange juice manufacturer and three Tampa Bay area counties are partnering with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to reduce fraud and the hiring of illegal workers.

Cutrale Citrus Juices USA, Inc., and the Boards of County Commissioners for Hernando, Pasco and Citrus counties officially became IMAGE partners at a signing ceremony in Tampa Thursday, partnering with ICE to ensure a more secure workforce and to enhance fraudulent document awareness through education and training. The IMAGE program, or ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers, is a voluntary program that helps employers comply with the law by equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to ensure a legal, authorized workforce.

“In today’s world, employers have a responsibility to protect the integrity of their labor force by  ensuring that their employees are who they represent themselves to be and that they are legally authorized to work in this country,” said Susan McCormick, special agent in charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Tampa. “We realize that the highest level of employment integrity can only be achieved through close coordination with local employers, such as these.”
