West Pasco Historical Society Museum to reveal new look

After almost two years of renovations, and the re-design and additions to the historical displays with help of a professional curatorial consultant, the West Pasco Historical Society Museum and Library is ready for their Grand Re-opening to the public.

The Grand Re-Opening Open House will take place at the museum, 6431 Circle Boulevard, in downtown New Port Richey (near Sims Park by Orange Lake), on Saturday, September 10, 2011, from 10 a.m. -4 p.m. beginning with a ribbon cutting. There will be food and entertainment and a “first look” at the refurbished exhibits. Hurricane date will be the following Saturday, September 17.

Bright House outages hit Pasco

Thousands of people are believed to be without or have limited services from Bright House Networks Tuesday afternoon, including customers in Pasco County.

Bright House spokesman Joe Durkin says they are aware of the problems with cable, phone and Internet services, and their engineers are trying to pinpoint the issue.  Outages are believed to be across several Tampa Bay counties.

Some people reportedly have trouble with all three services, while others are only having trouble with one or two.

It is unclear if the outages are weather-related.

City to discuss alcohol regulations

Please join local tavern owners, City staff, Greater New Port Richey Main Street, the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce, and the Florida Department of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at New Port Richey City Hall to discuss alcoholic beverage purchases transiting from inside businesses to open areas.

City staff and several bar owners indicated that several communities in the area allow businesses to sell alcoholic beverages inside a business and then allow them to depart the business into open areas designated by the city. The experts will state what is and what is not allowed under the licensing.

City Hall is located at 5919 Main Street in downtown New Port Richey.

Landscaping experts to update Pasco landowners with ‘best practices’

Two experts will offer Pasco County landowners their complimentary approaches to community landscape management when they address the Thursday, Sept. 8, meeting of the Pasco Alliance of Community Associations (PACA). 

Offering their landscaping expertise and answering member questions will be Chris Dewey of the Pasco County Extension Service and Paul Woods, the Florida representative of OLM, Inc.

The public is invited to attend the PACA meeting. It begins Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center, located at 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd. (US 41), three miles north of SR 54.

AT&T invests $425M in Florida networks, upgrades cell sites in Pasco

Pasco County, Florida -- AT&T customers in the Tampa Bay area are expected to experience improved mobile broadband coverage and voice performance as a result of continued investment by AT&T announced this week, starting with the fact that AT&T has already invested more than $425 million in its Florida wireless and wireline networks in the first half of 2011.

Specifically, Pasco County has added additional mobile broadband capacity to more than 10 cell sites in Zephyrhills, Spring Hill, Dade City, Wesley Chapel, Lutz, Land O’ Lakes, Odessa, New Port Richey, Hudson, and Port Richey.

Pasco manufacturer to receive free technical assistance from GrowFL Economic Gardening

Odessa, Florida -- SmartScience Laboratories Inc., - a developer, manufacturer and marketer of over-the-counter drug products - recently was selected to participate in the state-funded GrowFL program, part of the Florida Economic Gardening Institute.

Founded in 1998 by President/CEO Gene C. Weitz, SmartScience Laboratories is an FDA registered pharmaceutical contract manufacturer of over-the-counter drugs and cosmetic products.  The company also operates a marketing division which markets consumer products straight to consumers utilizing direct response marketing strategies.

“After qualifying and receiving the Economic Gardening Loan Fund, we have been participating in the CEO roundtables and in a number of additional GrowFL research functions,” Weitz said.
