Pasco Sheriff announces opening of new K-9 kennel

Land O' Lakes, FL -- Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco held an opening ceremony this morning for the newly constructed agancy K-9 kennel in Land O' Lakes.

The sheriff's office says this is the first kennel for the K-9 Unit and was constructed with donated funds, materials and labor. The highlight of the facility is the new washing station that saves handlers the trouble of having to go home or finding a hose in a backyard to clean off after a chase with a suspect through woods and/or swamps.

The kennel is located near the Land O'Lakes Detention Center, on U.S. 41, about a half-mile south of SR 52.

The Pasco Sheriff's Office has eight handlers and german shepherds and one bloodhound.
