Pasco County receives Bronze Smokey Award | Community Spirit
Pasco County, Florida -- The US Forest Service has recognized the outstanding achievements by the Florida Forest Service’s Withlacoochee Forestry Center and The Pasco County Fire Rescue Service by awarding them the 2012 State level Bronze Smokey Award.
The US Forest Service recognizes outstanding achievements in Wildfire prevention with annual award presentations in three categories; The Gold Smokey Award at the National level, The Silver award at the multi-state level and The Bronze Award for State level achievement.
The 2012 Bronze Award recognized the cooperative efforts undertaken by Pasco County Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service to develop and adopt a Pasco County Community Wildfire Protection Plan. In 2012, only one Bronze Smokey Award was presented at a State level making it a singly distinctive achievement.
Pasco County Fire Rescue Fire Marshal, Chief Donald Campbell was recognized for his leadership efforts in securing approval of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan and was presented a symbolic Bronze Smoke Lapel pin by the Director of The Florida Forest Service, State Forester Jim Karels. Pasco County Acting Emergency Services Director Cynthia Holland and Special Operations Chief Scott Cassin attended in support of Chief Campbell’s and Pasco County Fire Rescue’s recognition.
