Port Richey, Florida -- SPCA Suncoast is stepping up to help out the City of New Port Richey as its prepares to take over the role of animal control.

With the new structure taking longer than the city realized to complete, SPCA Suncoat has set aside an area on their property to house Unit animals in a safe and secure place while still segregated from all other SPCA animals, staff and volunteers.

“We are very appreciative the SPCA has stepped forward to assist us while our building is being completed”, said Sharon McReynolds, Coordinator for the New Port Richey Animal Protection Unit, in a release. “This shows the true spirit of partnership, all to benefit the animals.”

City staff and volunteers will care for any animal brought into the animal control area.

The construction of the city's new facility is expected to be complete before the end of the year.
