New Port Richey, Florida -- Community volunteers stepped it up big time over the weekend of Sept. 15 for the annual Cotee River Clean-up.

The City reported 140 volunteers collected a half-ton of trash and debris in the City of New Port Richey. Overall, 15 of the designated clean-up sites reported over 14 tons of debris was collected by over, 1,300 volunteers throughout Pasco County.

Boaters and kayakers also took to the waters to collect trash from Cotee River banks. The teams met at Sims Park Boat Ramp and gathered their supplies and were given their clean up location assignments. 

Volunteers worked from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with all the trash placed in a Pasco County Recycling dumpster.
