Community to help bring historic Hacienda Hotel back to life | Community Spirit
New Port Richey, Florida -- The City of New Port Richey is kicking off the new year with a restoration effort to help bring the historic Hacienda Hotel back to brillance and is asking the community for help.
“2013 is a year of new opportunities, a fresh start, and a chance for our community to come together and celebrate the treasures in our city,” said Susan Dillinger, the City of New Port Richey’s Interim City Manager. “I can’t think of a better place to start than the Hacienda Hotel.”
The Hacienda Hotel Community Clean-Up Day will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, from 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided to thank the community for their help in restoring this New Port Richey landmark to its original greatness. Volunteers are asked to sign-up by noon on Jan. 9.
The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) purchased the Hacienda Hotel, that was built in 1920, in August 2004, and since 2006 the Hacienda has been vacant, according to the city. The hotel was added to the National Register of Historic places in October 1996.
