High School students will be delivering their creations made from at least 70% used materials to the West Pasco Government Center the first Saturday in February. Over $2,000 in cash prizes are awarded to the winners in ten categories and participating seniors have the opportunity to compete for a $1,000 art scholarship.

The art is judged on many different themes like Best Use of Newspaper, Most Innovative, Best Environmental Concept and much more.

The exhibition opens to the public on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 8 a.m. The public may vote for their favorite piece of art in the “People’s Choice” for five days. The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the West Pasco Government Center commission chambers, 7530 Little Road in New Port Richey.

The art will remain on exhibit at the Government Center through March 2. From there the winning art pieces will be transferred to the District School Board of Pasco County where they will be displayed through March 30.

The exhibit and art contest is a co-operative project of the District School Board of Pasco County, Pasco County Utilities / Recycling and the Pasco Arts Council.

The Pasco Art of Recycling contest and exhibit was implemented to help increase awareness of the Arts and to encourage the practice of recycling.  The event is supported by community businesses, organizations and individuals.
