New Port Richey, Florida - The Parks and Recreation Department of New Port Richey will hold the second "America in Bloom" Planning Meeting on Monday, March 21 at 9:00 a.m. at the Recreation & Aquatic Center.

The "America in Bloom" project is a City-wide cleanup and beautification effort, and resident participation is requested and encouraged.

Residents can also volunteer for "River Clean-Up" on Saturday, April 16. Meet Elaine Smith, New Port Richey's Director of Parks and Recreation, at the Sims Park Boat Ramp at 8:00 a.m.

Gloves and trash bags will be provided, as well as lunch, and the first 100 volunteers will receive a free T-shirt.

April 16 is also "Global Youth Service Day." All over the world on this day, young people organize various clean-up projects. New Port Richey's Youth Advisory Board will coordinate the City's contribution to this day's global cleanup efforts for the third year in a row.

The project times are 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. In 2010, 700 projects were completed worldwide.

Please call Elaine Smith, Director of Parks and Recreation, at (727) 841-4560 for further information.
