Man arrested for stabbing wife

Land O' Lakes, Florida - The Pasco Sheriff's Office says a Land O' Lakes man is under arrest for trying to kill his wife.

Deputies say the wife of 40-year-old Michael Monaco told them he attacked her after an argument Saturday morning and stabbed her twice in the chest and tried to cut her throat with a kitchen knife.

The wife was taken to the hospital, and is expected to survive.

Deputies made contact with Monaco at his home, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Monaco faces one count of felony attempted murder.

Police release sketch of Payless Shoes robber

New Port Richey, Florida -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has released a sketch of the man wanted in connection with the robbery of the Payless Shoes store Tuesday.

The robbery was also responsible for the temporary lock down of two nearby schools while police conducted a search for the man believed to have been armed during the incident.

Holiday, Florida -- A man wanted in connection with the January shooting of another man in Holiday was arrested by U.S. Marshals agents in Stuart, Florida Wednesday.

The U.S. Marshals Task Force says they received information that Troy Garner, Jr. was at a home in Stuart and were able to locate and arrest him Wednesday morning. The Martin County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrest.

Schools come off lockdown, search for robbery suspect continues

New Port Richey, Florida -- Authorities have lifted the lockdowns of two schools, however, police are still searching for the robbery suspect believed to be armed in the area.

The sheriff's office says the man robbed the Payless Shoe Source at Mitchell Plaza on Little Road around 10 o'clock this morning. He was last seen heading west on foot.

He is described as a black male, about 30-35 years old, about 5'7", with a slim build, wearing a white shirt, black pants and a black hat. He is unshaven and was wearing glasses.

Man charged with sex crime against teen boy

Holiday, Florida -- A 68-year-old Holiday man was arrested Monday after police obtained a video of him engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old boy.

Detectives say a witness can across the video on Dennis Machmer's computer which showed the encounter between him and the boy at their home back in January.

Machmer initially denied the incident, but once he watched the video with detectives he admitted he was the person in the video.

Machmer was arrested and charged with Lewd or Lascivious Battery. He is currently being held without bond.

Lutz, Florida -- Detectives investigating the man arrested in December 2011 for operating the Harbour Medical Group Clinic without a license has uncovered a lengthy criminal past spanning three states.

During a search of the Lutz pain management clinic on Dec. 13, officers saw Ronald York take a revolver out of his waistband and try to hide it in a file cabinet. York was arrested and the gun was seized.

Man pleads guilty in fatal Pasco crash

NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida (AP) - A Tampa man has pleaded guilty in a fatal crash.

Hoping to receive leniency, 41-year-old Theodore Papadopoulos entered his plea Monday. He had been charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving involving serious bodily injury.

Authorities say Papadopoulos was speeding in August 2009 when he lost control of his Corvette on a curving Pasco County road and hit an oncoming car. His passenger, 57-year-old Ernest John Baez, died in the collision, and two teens in the other vehicle were injured.
