Pasco County, Florida -- During the Pasco EcoFest, an Eco Mart will be set up in the courtyard at the New Port Richey Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Several programs are also on the docket that day taking place inside the library including one program presented by Dell deChant, senior instructor and associate chair of the Religious Studies department at USF in Tampa. His program topic is “The Local Dimensions of Ecology” and it begins at 10 a.m.

He notes that the famous U.S. Congressman, Tip O’Neill, rightly observed that “all politics is local.”  The same can be said of ecology and our desire to live sustainably. This mini-lecture takes into consideration the relationship between local ecological awareness and broader challenges facing our warming and wondering world.

Mr. deChant is the author of three books, 30 articles in professional publications, and chapters in ten books. His specialization is religion and contemporary culture, and his recent research focuses on the contemporary ecological crisis as it manifests in American popular culture and religion.
