Florida Native Plant Society meeting on how to create some backyard wildlife

Pasco County, Florida -- Come learn how to create a backyard habitat at The Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society meeting.

These meetings take place the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at The Land O’ Lakes Community Center.

The subject of the Tuesday, October 8, 2013 program is “Creating a Backyard Wildlife Habitat”, presented by Rita Grant, a long-time member of the Florida Native Plant Society. Rita is dedicated to sharing the benefits of native plants with the community, and informing them about the hazards of invasive, exotic plant species. In a time when much of the native landscape has been altered, many of the plants that support wildlife are missing.  In this program we will learn ways we can create backyard wildlife habitats. People who attend will learn which plants to use to provide food, protection, and nesting, and create an environment in your yard that will attract wildlife.

Meetings of the Chapter are free, and all interested parties are invited to attend, to bring questions about their yard, and participate in light refreshments and the native plant drawing. Telephone inquiries are taken by Mary at (727) 849-2335.

The Land O'Lakes Community center is located at 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd/US 41, Land O’ Lakes, 34639.
