Land O' Lakes hurricane shelters

Land O' Lakes, FL -- The 2011 Atlantic Hurricane season is officially underway, and Pasco County is getting prepared.

In the event of a landfalling hurricane over Tampa Bay this season, Land O' Lakes residents have eight shelters within their community to seek refuge:

  • Odessa Elementary School, 1874 Ketzal Drive
  • Sunlake High School, 3023 Sunlake Blvd.
  • Oakstead Elementary School, 19925 Lake Patience Road
  • Pine View Elementary School, 5333 Parkway Blvd.
  • Connerton Elementary School, 9300 Flourish Drive
  • Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd.
  • Seven Oaks Elementary, 27633 Mystic Oak Blvd.
  • Veterans Elementary School, 26940 Progress Parkway

Pasco County Emergency Managers say there is limit space in shelters and they are not designed for comfort but for safety during an emergency.

A shelter should be your last resort.  Preparedness is key.  Make your hurricane plans ahead of time to alleviate stress and stay safe.

Visit your nearby ACE Hardware store and pick up the 10 News Hurricane guide where you will find lots of important information regarding hurricane season.
