Free iQuit: quit smoking programs offered in Pasco County

Pasco County, Florida -- Gulfcoast North Area Health Education Center is providing FREE tobacco cessation programs in Pasco County. 

The IQuit program offers two different quit smoking classes to help kick the habit. Tools to Quit is a one-time 2 hour program and Quit Smoking Now is a six week program. Both programs help participants plan their quitting process, establish goals, and learn strategies that will help them succeed.

Pasco County, Florida -- The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County (DOH-Pasco) reminds

residents to be mindful of wild and stray animals that can carry rabies.  

Raccoons, bats, foxes and skunks commonly carry the rabies virus.  An animal with rabies could infect other wild animals or domestic animals that have not been vaccinated against rabies.

Pasco County, Florida -- In time for the Great American Smokeout taking place on November 21, the Florida Department of Health's Tobacco Free Florida program and the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County are encouraging businesses across Pasco County to help their employees quit tobacco.

The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County offers employers free assistance in developing tobacco cessation programs, whether it's through the company's health insurance provider or the state's free cessation services.

Gulfcoast North Area Health Education Center is partnering with Florida Department of Health in Pasco County to offer a FREE 2.5 hour quit tobacco program to anyone interested in quitting tobacco use. The program provides optional FREE nicotine replacement therapy including patches, lozenge or gum.

It is sponsored by the Florida Department of Health.

Drug Take Back Day in Port Richey on Saturday, October 26

Port Richey, Florida -- The Port Richey Police Department will provide a drive-thru service for citizens to easily drop off their unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs. 

The purpose of this national event is to eliminate a major source of abused prescription drugs and reduce the hazard they pose to the city. 

Drug Take Back Day will take place on Saturday, October 26 at city hall located at 6333 Ridge Road, Port Richey between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Fresh Fridays in New Port Richey

New Port Richey, Florida -- The downtown farmer's market that is held on the first Friday of every month is coming up. 

Friday, September 6, the farmers market will be held at the New Port Richey's Railroad Square beginning at 6:00 p.m. 

There will be a multitude of vendors selling produce, plants, flowers, fish cheeses, honey, coffee and much more! These products vary from week to week so there is always something new. 

There will be demonstrations, gardening tips and live entertainment from local artists.
