Gaither beats Durant 38-30

Playoff time at Durant, the Cougars playing host to the Gaither cowboys.  Durant led it 23-7 at the half but Gaither scored 31 second half points to beat the Cowboys 38-30.

First half, Durant quarterback Nick Fabrizio threw a 45-yard strike to Paxton Sims.  That put the cougars on top 23-7 at the half.

But Gaither scored 31 points in the second half. 

Edward Pastrana returned an interception 35 yards for the score and Gaither comes from way behind to beat Durant 38-30.  

Tampa Bay Tech squeaks By Gaither 17-14

In East Tampa, it was Homecoming night at Tampa Bay Tech and the Titans were determined from the get go. 

Early in the first the Titans took an early lead as QB Aaron Midthus threw an 18-yarder to Deon Thompson. 

But before the first was out, Gaither's Vu Le ran it in from 18 yards out to even things at seven.

Just before the half, the Titans inched ahead as Cludner Lacount punched in from the two, to take a 14-7 lead at the half.

In the third, Gaither evened things up as Shug Oyegunle ran 42 yards to make it 14-14.

Pasco defeats Zephyrhills 45-0 wins 5th straight district title

Zephyrhills, FL - The Pasco Pirates and the Zephyrhills Bulldogs renewed their annual 9-mile rilvaly Friday night, and this year a district title was on the line for both teams.

Pasco (9-0) 6-0 in district play, came into the game looking to win a fifth consecutive title, while a win for Zephyrhills would put them into the playoffs.

The Pirates marched down the field on the games opening drive, with David Emmanuel scoring on an seven yard touchdown run.

Fivay wins big district game over Zephyrhills

Hudson, Fl - The Fivay Falcons had a stong fourth quarter to help them comeback from behind and defeat the Zephyrhills Bulldogs 48-42, in a critical Class 5A district 6 matchup.

With the win the Falcons inched closer to a first-ever playoff spot in only the second year of having a football progam.

Kyrie Rodriguez scored on a 3-yard run and quarterback Tyler Degen tossed a 29-yard touchdown pass to James Bullock, helping Favay with their fourth quarter comeback.

The Falcons (6-2, 5-1) are now tied with the Bulldogs (5-3, 5-1) for the runner up spot in the district.

Kent Taylor decides on Florida Gators

Lake O'Lakes, FL-- Land O'Lakes HS tight end Kent Taylor, announced Thursday that he'll play college football at the University of Florida.

Taylor, the son of former Tampa Bay Bucs' tackle Rob Taylor, was recruited by Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Penn State.  But he said the deciding factor was UF Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis.

"Just the offense that they run, and the offensive coordinator," Kent Taylor told 10 News.   "I thought it was the best school for me, all around... Socially, spiritually, academically, athletically."

Pasco romps and rolls past Fivay 59-6

Dade City, Fl - It was homecoming at Pasco High School as the Pirates entertained the Fivay Falcons in a Class 6A-6 matchup.

Coming into the game, Pasco, Fivay and Zephyrhills were in a three-way tie at the top of their district, at 4-0.

Sunlake tops Land O'Lakes 21-10

Land O'Lakes, FL - Sunlake hosted Land O'Lakes in a key 6A-6 matchup, with the winner most likely claiming their disctict runnerup playoff spot.

After having two touchdowns called back for penalties, the Chargers got on the scoreboard for real when Mike Lopez ran it in from three yards out.

The Gators answered with a Harrison Wood one-yard touchdown dive, tying the score at 7-7.
