Pasco rolls past Fivay 59-6

Pasco rolls past Fivay 59-6

It was homecoming at Pasco High School as the Pirates entertained the Fivay Falcons in a Class 6A-6 matchup.

Coming into the game, Pasco, Fivay and Zephyrhills were in a three-way tie at the top of their district at 4-0. It didn't take long for Pasco to show why they are still the team to beat as they rolled past Fivay, 59-6.

Early on, it was the Janarion Grant show. Grant scored two quick touchdowns, a 45-yard touchdown on a swing pass from quarterback Jacob Guy and a 50-yard punt return that put the Pirates up 21-0.

Hernando rumbles past Sunlake, 22-7

At Sunlake, the Seahawks hosting Hernando in a district match up.  It was an old fashioned run, run, run punt kind of game as Hernano wins it, 22-7.

The game was scoreless until the second quarter. Hernando running back Jeremiah Jackson carried it 5 yards to give the Jaguars a 7-0 lead.  Hernando led it 14-7 at the half and they were driving again in the 4th when quarterback Cleve Pope was intercepted by Sunlake's Jamal Jones to stop that drive.

But later in the 4th quarter, Tyrail Hawkins took the handoff from Pope and muscled 5 yards for the touchdown.

Pasco sails past Gulf 51-0 to remain unbeaten

Up in New Port Richey it was our HighSchoolSports.net Game of the Week as the Gulf Buccaneers played host to the Pasco Pirates. From the get go, this battle of swashbucklers was dominated by Pasco.

The undefeated Pirates wasted little time jumping out to an early lead with several scores in the first quarter, including a defensive score when Gulf coughed it up deep in their own end.
But the bread and butter for Pasco was their screen pass.  Gulf just didn't have an answer for the Pirates and their athletic running backs.

Before long, the Pirates were up by 30 thanks to the shifty running of Trey Dudley-Giles, who returned a punt for a touchdown, as he just refused to go down.
Junior running back David Emmanuel also added a few scores of his own for Pasco.

When the dust finally settled Pasco knocked off Gulf 51-0 to remain unbeaten.

Hernando beats Land O' Lakes 28-7

The class A district 6 opener had all the earmarks of a big time thriller between Hernando and Land O' Lakes, but when time ran out, Hernando was the runaway winner in a 28-7 rout of Land O' Lakes.

The Leopards rushed for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns while holding the Gators to just 28 offensive yards.

Senior Leopard running back Tyrail Hawkins took the pitch on the 4th play of the game and turned it into a 71-yard touchdown.  The Leopards are 2-2 on the young season while the Gators are 1-2.

Mitchell beats Ridgewood 33-0

It's week three of Friday night high school football.  In Pasco County, the Mitchell Mustangs played host to the Ridgewood Rams. Mitchell ran wild in a 33-0 win, their third of the season.

Mitchell's defense was on fire, sacking Ridgewood quarterback Bob Peck multiple times in the first quarter, while keeping the Rams far from striking distance.

Mitchell racked up 33 unanswered points, shutting out the Ridgewood Rams 33-0. The Rams are still looking for their first win while the Mustangs are unbeaten.

Mitchell heads into disctrict and conference play this Friday against River Ridge. The Mustangs win big, 33-0, and stay 3-0 for the season.
