Pasco makes it easier to get a new birth certificate


New Port Richey, Florida -- If you've ever tried to renew a driver's license or a state ID, you know a birth certificate is essential.

But if you don't have one handy, Pasco County is making it a little easier to get a new one.

"We are constantly striving to make it as easy as possible for our customers to comply with the needs of the federal mandates regarding identification," says Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano. "Additionally, a customer may need a copy of their birth certificate for various other purposes."

Teen dies after Pasco County crash


Pasco County, Florida -- A 16-year-old boy is dead and three others are injured after a crash in Pasco County.

Kevin Monaco was driving a Dodge Caravan with three students from Ridgewood High School just before 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon when he failed to negotiate a curve near Forest Lake Drive. As a result the van left the roadway, collided with a tree and then caught fire.

TRAFFIC: I-75 exit to SR 56 to close Wednesday night

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- FDOT will close Exit 275 on southbound I-75 to State Road 56 (weather permitting) from 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 to 4:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6.

DETOUR: Use Exit #279, turn left and go east on County Road 54, then turn right and go south on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard to State Road 56).

Legally blind woman sues nudist condo association over service dog

Lutz, Florida -- A local Pasco County woman has been battling with the courts for years to get her case heard. And now after a recent court decision, she is able to move forward with a discrimination lawsuit against Paradise Lakes Condo Association in Lutz where clothing is optional, but the size of your pet is not.

Sharon Fowler has had her faithful companion Laura by her side for 2-1/2 years. Fowler, who is legally blind, got Laura through Southeastern Guide Dogs Services and needs her to get around.

Pasco commissioner to hold town hall on SR 54/56 corridor

New Port Richey, Florida -- Pasco County Commissioner Kathryn Starkey will host a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the transportation needs, the planned growth and history of development in the State Road 54/56 corridor.

Pasco County staff will be in attendance to give an overview of transportation analyses and alternatives for SR 54/56. This will be the first of many community discussions on the possible solutions for the congestion in the area.

Father speaks out after daughter is killed by texting and driving

New Port Richey, Florida -- "After a half hour, I knew she should have been home."

Steve Augello is telling his story to over 1,100 Gulf High School students about how his 17-year-old daughter Allie was killed by a driver that was texting.

Augello says, "The feeling that went through my heart was like an arrow, like I lost half my heart."

Augello has given this speech to at least 15 high schools, in hopes of getting through to young people and old.

Missing Land O' Lakes teen found

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- UPDATE: The Missing Child Alert sent out for Zach Brown has been canceled.

A missing child alert has been issued for 15-year-old Zach Brown.

He was last seen in the area of 3000 Downan Point Drive.

He is described as a white male, 5'6", 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt with an elaborate black design on the front, dark gray or black jeans, or possibly shorts, with bright red high top shoes.
