Vigil held for Trinity teen killed in crash | News
TRINITY, Fla. - Dozens of people gathered Saturday for a candlelight vigil to remember 16-year-old Matthew Capelo-Fine, who died Friday night in a car crash.
The vigil was held in the parking lot of Generations Christian Church. The group comforted each other and shared memories of Matthew, who liked hockey and cars. Matthew went to J.W. Mitchell High School.
According to officials with the Florida Highway Patrol, Matthew was driving eastbound along SR-54 just west of the Veteran's Expressway when, for some reason, he lost control of his car. Authorities said Matthew crossed over the grass median and crashed into a SUV, then hit two other vehicles. One of those vehicles slammed into other one, and debris from the accident then hit a fifth vehicle.
Five people were inside the SUV, including 91-year-old Anna Davis, who later died. Three other people inside suffered serious injuries and were taken to Tampa General Hospital.
A makeshift memorial now marks the scene of the crash, with flowers and notes placed by Matthew's loved ones.
The investigation is ongoing. It's unclear what caused the teen to lose control of his car.
