Pasco Storm Damage Assessment, Debris Disposal Plan

New Port Richey, Florida -- Pasco County officials are continuing to gather information on damages caused by Tropical Storm Debby.

Pasco County and the State of Florida conducted a Joint Damage Assessment last Friday, June 29, in order to determine if Pasco County will qualify for assistance. The damage estimate report could be finalized as early as Monday, July 9.

The National Weather Service reports the Anclote flood stage level last week at more than 26 feet. As of 1:15 p.m. on Monday, July 2, it receded to 14.76 feet. That is below flood stage but, still more than five feet above levels prior to Tropical Storm Debby. The County’s Stormwater Management Division has been in the field assessing water flow near various County drainage systems.

Residents who experienced flooding or other damage to their property should not only contact their insurance providers, but also are requested to register the damage with the County online at www.pascocountyfl.net or by calling the Resident Information Center (RIC) at (727) 847-8959 during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Storm debris collection will not begin until after Wednesday, July 4. Residents are requested to take their storm related debris to the curbside and separate the construction debris and white goods (for example, refrigerators) from normal household garbage.  Regular household garbage that is normally collected on their scheduled day should be separated from the storm debris.

In addition, residents are reminded before they enter into contracts for repairs they should work with a licensed contractor. Remind the contractor as a customer you will verify their license by going online to www.MyFloridaLicense.com or by calling (850) 487-1395.

For more information visit www.pascocountyfl.net or contact the RIC at 727-847-8959.
