#ProtectYourVote: more mailers pressure, upset FL voters

TAMPA BAY, Florida - A day after 10 News reported on "Vote History Audits" publicizing your voting record to your neighbors, new "Voter Report Cards" are getting the attention of local elections officials too.  It's all in an apparent attempt to peer pressure carefully-selected voters into casting ballots, and it's all legal.

Pasco County Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley sent the new mailer (read the front; back) to 10 News, concerned groups were using intimidation techniques to turn out the vote.  The "voter report card" was sent by a liberal group while the "voter history audit" was sent by a conservative group.

#ProtectYourVote: 10 News will investigate your voting concerns

10 News' #ProtectYourVote campaign is an effort to investigate allegations of - and prevent - voter influence and other improprieties at the polls.

It's not clear how targeted the voting record mailers were, and there's indication the voting histories publicized may not even be accurate.

But since voting histories are public record in Florida, accessible to anybody, we likely haven't seen the end of the technique.  Especially since there are indications it is successful in pressuring voters to cast ballots.

10 News regularly uses voting records in reporting as well, including recent stories on how few Occupy Tampa protesters had voted and which state legislators skipped voting in the primary.
