Homeless man arrested for Port Richey murder | News
PORT RICHEY, Florida -- Pasco County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a homeless man for a murder that occurred Saturday night in Port Richey.
Deputies say 25-year-old Cory Keeler was dropped off at Bayonet Point Hospital around 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 with serious injuries. He later died at the hospital.
During an investigation into Keeler's death, Pasco detectives discovered Kevin Whittaker had made arrangements over the phone with Keeler to meet for a drug transaction.
Investigators say Whittaker armed himself with a knife before the meetup and had no intention of giving Keeler the drugs in exchange for money. When a fight ensued between the two as Keeler tried to get his money, Whittaker attacked Keeler stabbing him multiple times.
Whittaker, 26, admitted to detectives stabbing Keeler in the exchange. He was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
