FHP seeks witnesses in SR 56 semi crash

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for those who witnessed a crash involving an SUV and a semi tractor trailer on the SR 56 overpass at I-75 overnight Tuesday to come forward.

The accident occurred around 1:07 a.m. Wednesday.

Troopers say preliminary information indicates 31-year-old Sarah Scoggins, of Land O' Lakes, was heading east on SR 56 on the overpass when she rear-ended a semi that was turning off the exit ramp from I-75 to head east. After impact, Scoggins' Hyundai Tuscon went into the grassy median and overturned. 

She was bayflighted to St. Joseph's Hospital when she is listed in critical condition. 

The driver of the semi, 38-year-old HEctor Broche, of Spring Hill, was not injured.
