Polk County meeting to discuss student transportation

Haines City, Florida -- Haines City High and Polk County Transit Services will host a community meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 2 to discuss additional transportation options.

The meeting will take place off-campus at the Poinciana Community Center located at 395 Marigold Avenue, Kissimmee, FL 34759. It will take place from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Participants are welcome to arrive any time during the 2 ½ hour meeting.

Haines City High has partnered with Polk County Transit Services to work with Lynx to revamp their bus service in Haines City. The proposed Lynx bus stop will benefit students from the Kissimmee Poinciana area by allowing them alternative transportation opportunities. The hope is that the new bus route will benefit the students who haven’t been able to take advantage of tutoring, sports, clubs and other after-school activities because of lack of transportation after school hours. It is hopeful parents will also be able to utilize the additional transportation options in the event that they may need to attend to matters concerning their children.

Parents and the public will have an opportunity to voice their opinions on the subject matter and ask questions during the April meeting. Please note this partnership is in the beginning stages and Haines City High students are soliciting public support.
