Boil water notice lifted Port Richey area

Port Richey, Florida -- The precautionary boil water notice issued by the City of Port Richey on Nov. 1 has been lifted.

The City says the bacteriological survey of the water indicates the water is safe for use. The water service in the affected service area included Senate Manor and all City of Port Richey water service customers to the north of Senate Manor.

Zephyrhills High School principal abruptly resigns

Friday night in Pasco County means high school football.

The Pasco Pirates taking on the Zephyrhills Bulldogs, but much of the attention was on on the field, rather the sudden resignation of Zephyrhills High School principal, Steven Van Gorden.

In a brief, one-sentence letter, VanGorden wrote quote - "It has been my pleasure serving the District School Board of Pasco County since 1997. At this time, I have decided to resign my position as principal of Zephyrhills High School effective immediately" - end quote.

High school principal resigns amid investigation

Zephyrhills, Florida -- A high school principal under investigation with the Pasco County School Board announced his resignation Friday.

Steven Van Gorden is not only the principal of Zephyrhills High School, he's the mayor of Zephyrhills. He was elected mayor just six months ago, and is a well-connected former councilman and community activist.

While it hasn't been revealed why he is under investigation, he was put on paid leave on Oct. 19.

Police search for Publix liquor store robber

Zephyrhills, Florida -- Pasco Sheriff's detectives are searching for a man who robbed the Zephyrhills Publix liquor store Wednesday, Oct. 31 around 12:30 p.m.

Detectives say the man entered the store in the 32000 block of Eiland Blvd., told the cashier he had a gun in his backpack, and left with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male about 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, blue jeans and a grey shirt with an American flag on the front.
