Pasco School Board Elects Crumbley Chairman, Luikart Vice-Chairman

Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco County School Board elected Alison Crumbley as School Board Chairman and Steve Luikart as School Board Vice-Chairman at their organization meeting today.  Crumbley, who served the last year as vice-chairman, replaces Cynthia Armstrong (District 3) as chairman.

Eight grader elected to Students Working Against Tobacco youth

Pasco County, Florida -- Mykenzie Robertson, an 8th grade student at Charles S. Rushe Middle School, was elected to the Youth Advocacy Board (YAB) of the statewide Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) organization during a regional meeting held on September 14 in Auburndale. Only 12 students in Florida are elected to the YAB board each year to represent their region in the creation of SWAT campaigns and programs.

Pasco County, Florida -- Board of County Commissioner Chairman Ted Schrader, also Chairman of the Tourist Development Council, nominated Kyle Von Kohorn, manager of the Holiday Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott, to be appointed to the Tourist Development Council (TDC).  The Board unanimously approved Von Kohorn to the TDC on August 27, 2013.

Third annual SWAT Summit trains future leaders

New Port Richey - The third annual SWAT Leadership Summit was held on Saturday, June 22 at the James P. Gills Family YMCA in Trinity, Florida. SWAT, which stands for Students Working Against Tobacco, is Florida's statewide youth organization that works to achieve a tobacco-free future. SWAT youth do this by educating their peers about the harmful effects of tobacco use, aiding current tobacco users in their efforts to quit, and influencing local events and policy.

Pasco County, Florida --The Florida Lottery announces that David Steimel, 60, of Port Richey, claimed a $500,000 prize in the GOLD RUSH TRIPLER Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee. Steimel, who celebrates his birthday later this week, purchased his winning ticket at Jasmine Discount Beverage, located at 10604 Devco Drive in Port Richey.
