Home healthcare worker pawns patient's jewelry to pay traffic fines

New Port Richey, Florida -- A care giver from Right at Home: In Home Care was arrested Wednesday after police say he tried to pawn a $1,000 necklace that was recently reported stolen.

Pasco deputies say 29-year-old Peter Weinstein was caught pawning a gold necklace for $135 at the Silver Dollar Pawn Shop that was reported stolen.

New Port Richey, Florida -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has announced it has hired New Port Richey Police Chief James Steffens as its new Chief Forensic Investigator.

Steffens will be replacing Charlie May who spent 25 years at the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and the last seven years as Chief Forensic Investigator. May’s retirement will be effective on March 31, 2013.

Holiday man wins $1 million scratch-off lottery prize

Holiday, Florida -- A Holiday man had one awesome day Wednesday when he claimed the $1 million top prize in the 50X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at the Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

Lottery officials say 33-year-old Michael Asmakis bought his winning ticket at Holiday Citgo at 2715 U.S. Highway 19. He chose to receive the winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $800,000.

The $10 game launched in July 3, 2012 and offered 12 top prizes of $1 million. Five top prizes remain to be won. The overall odds of winning are one in 3.46.

Lutz, Florida -- BB&T, a longtime investor in Pasco EDC, has increased its financial commitment to economic development and will be joining the Board of Directors.  Representing BB&T on the Pasco EDC Board will be Senior Vice President Chip Falk.
