Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Gulfside Elementary School and community partners invite students and families to Community Spirit Day on March 23.

It takes places on the school campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participating agencies are:

Haines City, Florida -- Haines City High and Polk County Transit Services will host a community meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 2 to discuss additional transportation options.

School board holds workshops

Land O'Lakes, Florida -- The District School Board of Pasco County will hold workshops on April 2, and April 9.

On Tuesday, April 2, at 9:30 p.m. there will be a workship on board policies, budget, and the Affordable Care Act's impact on the school district. 

On Tuesday, April 16 at 4:00 p.m. there will be a workshop on the budget. 

All workshops will take place in the television studio in Building 3 at the District Office Complex, 7227 Land O'lakes Blvd.

Land O’ Lakes, FL – After listening to students and members of the Dade City community, Superintendent Kurt Browning announced today that he will not recommend closing Moore Mickens Education Center.

“I have heard the heartfelt pleas from Moore Mickens students, graduates, staff, and supporters, and I cannot in good conscience move forward with the recommendation to close the school at this time,” said Superintendent Browning.

Poster contest for Pasco County elementary students

New Port Richey, Florida -- Elementary school students will get the chance to compete in the Fourth Annual Pasco County Water Awareness Poster Contest while learning about the importance of water resources. This year's theme is "Choose Drippy's or Amie Ba's Next Adventure."

After learning about the processes that go into water treatment and reclamation, the students will create posters with various aspects of water use or reuse.

New Port Richey, Florida -- If you're a mom and dad looking for a night out on the town for Valentine's Day weekend, but can't find a sitter, the Excel Creative Learning Academy is here to help.

The academy is offering a Parents' Night Out at 9332 State Road 54, Suite 204 in New Port Richey on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $20.

Kids 6 weeks to 12 years old can enjoy crafts, games, snacks and a Valentine's Day movie.

Coalition hosts special board meeting to discuss age range

The Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando Counties, Inc. will host a special, public meeting of the Board of Directors to discuss the age range for School Readiness services (subsidized child care).

The meeting, which will be open to the public, will be held at Pasco-Hernando Community College (PHCC), Building C—Room C205, on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting is the result of yearlong discussions about an increasing waitlist for School Readiness services.
