Pasco Skinny Water Fishing Tournament

Pasco County, Florida -- Sign up soon for a catch-and-release tournament for paddle kayaks and canoes.

The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 16 from 7 a.m. to noon. 

There will be no motor boats allowed and participants must be able to take a picture of their catch with a camera or cellphone and upload the image electronically to the tournament officials.

There is a captain's meeting on Friday, November 15 at 6 p.m. that is not required but those who attend will be able to pre-register and get launched quicker on the morning of the event.

2013 annual Fall Fishing Festival

Pasco County, Florida -- The Fall Family Fishing Festival will be held on Saturday to teach proper fishing techniques while being a steward of Florida's freshwater ecosystem.

This one day event will be held on November 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Withlacoochee River Park. The primary goal of this event is to create responsible anglers by teaching proper fishing techniques and the importance of treating the Florida freshwater ecosystem with care.  

The event is free and Withlacoochee River Park is located at 12449 Withlacoochee Boulevard in Dade City.

Everyone ages 10-adult is welcome and no prior experience is necessary.

They are also hosting our new Chess Club from 2 - 4 p.m. if you want to challenge your brain a different way.

Land O' Lakes, Florida --  The Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society meets the second Tuesday of every month and the subject of this month is "Creating a Backyard Wildlife Habitat."

This meeting will be dedicated to sharing the benefits of native plants with the community, and informing them about the hazards of invasive, exotic plant species. In a time when much of the native landscape has been altered, many of the plants that support wildlife are missing.

Pasco County, Florida -- This free family-friendly event offers fun for the whole family! 

Drivers of the custom-built box cars will let gravity take over as they race downhill to the finish line on Cleveland Street.

The races begin at 9:30 a.m. and there are teen, adult, pee wee, high school and corporate races. It will be held in downtown Clearwater and will begin at the Corner of Cleveland Street and Osceola Avenue.
