NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida (AP) -- A man told deputies he was exchanging steamy text messages with his girlfriend when he was involved in a minor traffic accident.

Another motorist flagged down a Pasco County Sheriff's deputy early Sunday and told her about the accident on State Road 54.

The deputy says 29-year-old Phernando Cuello of Tampa first told her the accident was caused by another driver who had cut him off. Then, Cuello said he was "sexting" while driving.

New Port Richey, Florida -- It may seem like an odd subject, but a new class is teaching participants how to use a basic human instinct to their advantage: laughter. "Lighten Up with Laughter" will be presented at the It’s Time For You group at the Pasco Government Center (7550 Little Road, New Port Richey) in the basement lunchroom tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. 

Then, "Laughter Lightens your Life" is another opportunity to put a spring in your step.  The two-hour class will be held over the course of four weeks at Marchman Technical Education Center.

Man dies after stumbling into lake while fishing

NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida (AP) -- A 63-year-old man died after falling into a lake while fishing.


Officials say the accident happened late Monday night as Gavin Grace was fishing behind his girlfriend's house in New Port Richey.


According to Pasco County deputies, 71-year-old Sandra Spears went outside about 11:30 p.m. to tell Grace his sister was on the phone. She told deputies Grace stumbled, then fell into the lake.
