New Port Richey, Florida -- Are you a francophile? Do you know French, but can't get to France to practice your knowledge of the language?

Here's your chance to sit down with other french-speakers and practice!

The New Port Richey Public Library invites you to practice conversational French during "Bonjour, Mes Amis".

It is a small, friendly group that meets each week.

It scheduled for Friday, May 25 at 2 p.m.

The library is located at 5939 Main Street in New Port Richey.

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Have you ever thought about getting in touch with your artisitic side? Perhaps you've never painted or drawn anything and want to try something new. Well now is your chance!

Join instructor Laurie as she guides you through creating a beautiful landscape with acrylic paints.

Participants should bring a 16x20 canvas, available at most arts and crafts supply stores. Paints and brushes provided by the instructor.

Do you have a goal of sharing your work with others?

Here's your chance! There is an official open mic night every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month.

The event is free and goes from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Progress Energy Art Gallery, 6231 Grand Blvd., in New Port Richey.

The next one will be held on Friday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to read or just sit back and listen!

Pasco Arts Council recognizes rising artists with Kids ‘n Art 2012

Pasco County, Florida -- Pasco County art instructors from public, charter, private and home-schooled networks were invited to select up to six pieces of art from their currently enrolled students in elementary or middle school for this year's Kids 'n Art exhibit. 

Each child could enter one piece in any medium. The show will be judged by Barbara Dent, high school art instructor from Bishop McLaughlin and will be on exhibit from May 12 through the end of May.

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Do you love reading? Are you looking to engage in conversations with other book lovers? There is a local Book Club that is ongoing at the Rasmussen College Land O' Lakes campus at 18600 Fernview Street (Corner of 54 & Sunlake).

The new college campus was opened in the last year and it is becoming a hot spot for community meetings. This week they are discussing the book "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close". Yes, this book inspired the 2011 movie starring Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks.

New Port Richey, Florida - The city will unveil it's 31st Black Maria Film and Video Festival as rolls into town for the third straight year on Friday, April 20, at the Richey Suncoast Theatre at 8 p.m. The festival has proven to be a huge success in years' past.

The HiBrow Gallery presents "Survivors" exhibition

Dade City, Florida -- The DCCA/HiBrow Gallery, in association with the Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring’s Healing Arts Studio, is privileged to present a unique and special exhibition, “Survivors” beginning Friday, April 13.   

The exhibition show cases the art work of 60 cancer survivors and caregivers. Some of the works on display will be offered for purchase while others are for exhibit only. Many of the artists have chosen to donate the proceeds from their sales to FMC’s Foundation of Caring.
