Primitive Art Festival in Dade City

Dade City, FL -- The Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department and The St. Petersburg Astronomy Club present The Withlacoochee Living History Primitive Art Festival.

The event is Feb. 17, 18 & 19 at Withlacoochee River Park, at 12449 Withlacoochee Boulevard, in Dade City.

Demonstrations include artists making arrow and spears, as well as fur traders and craftsmen demonstrating how business was done in the 1800's.

Admission is $2 per person or $5 per car and those 12 and under are free.

"Art of Recycling" Art Competition

Pasco County -- Some very creative high school students will be winning some cash for creating art while "going green".

On Feb. 3, students from all over Pasco County will drop off original art examples such as paintings, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, wearable art and architecture that have an environmental theme and utilize 70% recycled materials.

The artwork is then put on display and the public can vote on the artwork beginning Feb. 6.

Dade City, Florida -- The HiBrow Gallery in Dade City's Artist of the Month is Frank P. Sledge and on Jan. 21 the public is invited to meet him.

Frank will be available for the meet and greet from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

The comedy, "The Foreigner" is being performed in New Port Richey.  It is on both Saturday, Jan. 14 and Sunday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m.

Who should you bring to the performance? Suggestions are college students, parents and seniors.  The performance is at the Richey Suncoast Theater.

New Port Richey, Florida -- Want to check out a Broadway show this weekend?  You can see it in your own backyard!

The musical, "Hairspray," is being presented in New Port Richey this weekend at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre. Based on the 1988 film by John Waters, is a musical featuring teenager Tracy Turnblad, who introduces 1962 Baltimore to integration after appearing on a local TV dance show.
