Toilet rebate program offered in Zephyrhills

Zephyrhills, Florida - Rebates of up to $100 are available for each high flow toilet replaced by an Ultra Low Flow 1.6 gallon toilet for Zephyrhills residents. 

The East Pasco Water Coalition says the offer is open to customers who get their water directly from the City of Zephyrhills.

County offices to close for in-service training day

NEW PORT RICHEY – Many Pasco County Government offices will be closed to the public on Monday, October 10, 2011, for an In-Service Training Day. Staff will be receiving necessary training throughout the day. These government offices will reopen to the public on Tuesday, October 11.

The Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Clerk and Comptroller, the Courts and Tax Collector will still be open for business on Monday.

Also on Monday, the Pasco County Resource Recovery Facility and the East Pasco Transfer Station will be open to the general public and licensed commercial haulers.

Foreclosure attorney to help Pasco communities navigate legal waters

Pasco County -- Attorney Steve Mezer of Bush/Ross in Tampa will help Pasco County community groups navigate home foreclosure and abandonment laws when he addresses the Thursday, Oct. 13, meeting of the Pasco Alliance of Community Associations (PACA). 

The public is invited to attend PACA’s meeting. It begins Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center, located at 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd. (US 41), three miles north of SR 54.

PACA president Jim Flateau said, “On a good day, the complexities of real property-related laws are mind-boggling for the citizens who serve on community boards across Pasco County. Even as we try to understand them, the statutes change and so does the housing market. Steve has previously brought his unique experience to our members, who are eager to hear his insights on the ever-changing landscape that we all confront in trying to manage our communities.”

Customer Service Hearing set for Aqua Utilities in New Port Richey

New Port Richey -- The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct a service hearing on Tuesday, October 11, for customers of Aqua Utilities Florida, Inc. (AUF).  This is one of 10 service hearings being held in AUF’s service territory.

On March 13, the PSC issued a proposed agency action order granting AUF $2.6 million of the utility’s requested $4.1 million rate increase.  The Commission’s order was protested by intervenors in the case.  As a result, the PSC will now be holding customer service hearings to allow customers to comment on AUF’s quality of service and its requested rates.

New Port Richey, Florida -- The Parks and Recreation Department of New Port Richey will hold a Marketing Plan and User Fee Meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, October 5 and 6 at the Recreation and Aquatic Center. The public is invited to take part in these meetings.

Stake Holders will meet with City consultants Ballard*King and Associates on Wednesday, October 5 at 5:30 p.m., and the Focus Group’s meeting follows on Thursday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Dept. of Children and Families in Pasco to share coveted $799K SAMHSA grant

Pasco County, Florida -- The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has awarded the Department of Children and Families a federal grant to help improve children’s access to behavioral care.

Pinellas and Pasco counties, Tallahassee, and Panama City will share $799,401 to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for improving and expanding services provided by systems of care for children and youth with serious emotional conflict and their families.

“This competitive grant is a testament to the hard work of our department and community partners to expand best practices in services for children with behavioral issues,” said DCF Secretary David Wilkins. “Countless number of children will benefit.”
