Land O' Lakes, Florida -- A great event called "Big Heros for Little Warriors" is kicking off at 11:30am at the Plantation Palms Golf Club in Land O' Lakes on Saturday, November 9th.

Before the golf tournament gets underway, volunteers will shave their heads as part of a fundraising effort for the cause. Charity co-founder Christina Jenks will be among the participants.

Christina and her husband, Pasco County fire fighter Eric Jenks, started "Big Heroes 4 Little Warriors" just this past year, after participating in a nationwide campaign to help a little boy with cancer. The couple organized a Christmas card/emergency personnel patch drive for 6-year-old Nathan Norman of Virginia. Nathan has been battling stomach cancer since the age of 2-years-old.  His holiday wish was to hear from his heroes: police officers and fire fighters. The Jenks collected cards, patches and other memorabilia from emergency response agencies from across Tampa Bay.  Subsequent media coverage even brought in donations from around the state. On January 8th, the Jenks hand delivered all of the items in person to little Nathan: http://bigheroes4littlewarriors.org/home.html

Upon returning home, the couple felt in their hearts they had to continue the effort to aid children battling cancer.  Soon, their idea for a charity became a reality.  "Big Heroes 4 Little Warriors" is designed to connect Tampa Bay fire fighters, police officers, sheriff's deputies and EMS crews to those very children. The charity participated in it's first event this past summer, joining St. Joseph's Children Hospital and their Christmas in July event.
