Pasco County, Florida -- If you made a New Year’s resolution to give back to your community this year, sign up to be a hospice volunteer!

Gulfside Regional Hospice is in need of some extra volunteers all across Pasco County. Gulfside is holding volunteer orientations this January for new volunteers.

Gulfside needs volunteers for shifts especially at the five Thrift Shoppe locations Monday through Saturday, as well as helping in the kitchen and serving meals at the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Zephyrhills and answering phone calls and greeting visitors at Gulfside’s Centers for Hospice in west Pasco. Patient care and spiritual care volunteers are also needed.

Through the orientations, participants will learn about the valuable role Gulfside Regional Hospice serves in our community, and the various volunteer opportunities available to help care for patients and families during their most difficult times. Other volunteer opportunities are available at Gulfside’s administrative offices and at any of the five Gulfside Regional Hospice Thrift Shoppes.

The orientations are scheduled for:

  • Monday, Jan. 6 and Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Gulfside’s Bereavement and Community Outreach Center (6230 Lafayette St. in downtown New Port Richey) for all new volunteers in West Pasco
  • Thursday, Jan. 16and Friday, Jan. 17 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Gulfside’s Center for Hospice Care (5760 Dean Dairy Rd.) for new patient care volunteers.
  • Thursday, Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Lutz Thrift Shoppe location (1930 Land O’Lakes Blvd.) for new Thrift Shoppe volunteers in Central Pasco

Reservations are required as space is limited at the orientations. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. To reserve your spot at any of the orientations, call Gulfside’s volunteer managers Kathie Poole at 727-845-5707 for the New Port Richey class or Jennifer Ball and Tracey Thompson at 813-780-1235 for the east and central Pasco orientations.
