Pasco County wins five National Achievement Awards for innovation

Pasco County, Florida --Pasco County was just awarded five National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards and one Best of Category Award for innovative programs that modernize county government and increase services to county residents.

The five awards are for the following programs: Pasco Elderly Nutrition (PEN) Pals Program; Rockus Maximus: Battle of the Bands; The Bumble Bee Program; Pasco Opportunity Program (POP); and Cindy’s Pets.

New Port Richey, Florida -- Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation of Florida is giving away free hearing aid batteries on Friday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

The Foundation will offer free hearing aid batteries in the most common sizes while they last: 10, 13, and 312 and 675.

Pasco County, Florida -- Rev up your motorcycles and cars for the inaugural Hittin’ the Road for Hospice benefitting Gulfside Regional Hospice this June!

The event takes place on Saturday, June 22 with day of event registration beginning at 8 a.m. at Gulfside’s New Port Richey Thrift Shoppe located at 6117 State Road 54 in New Port Richey (corner of Madison Street and SR 54 in the Elfers Shopping Plaza). Kickstands go up at 10 a.m.

iCan Bike Campers Boosted by Donation from Zephyrhills

Zephyrhills, Florida -- Area residents with Down syndrome and other disabilities will have the opportunity to learn how to ride conventional two-wheeled bicycles at the iCan Bike Camp next week, supported by a donation of spring water from Zephyrhills Brand 100% Natural Spring Water. The camp begins Sunday and runs until Friday, June 14, at Freedom High School in Orlando.

The survey asks how often citizens use our services and provides feedback on how well we are meeting citizen expectations for service delivery.  The survey data helps us to prioritize our planning efforts and budget allocations.

The community summit will occur on Thursday, June 27, at Wesley Chapel Center for the Arts, bringing together high school students, parents, educators, and community leaders.

Fishing tournament a success for hospital

Zephyrhills, Florida -- The third annual "Fishin' for the Mission" tournament in Zephyrhills was a succes.

More than 15 teams participated and raised more than $20,000 to support the Brain and Spine Institute for Florida Hospital Zephyrhills.

The annual event is a catch and release fishing tournament. Fisher compete for the largest trout, redfish and mackerel. They're also judged on the total number of fish caught.
