New curbside recycling- just put a sticker on it!

Pasco County, Florida -- In mid- June the county is changing to a new recycling program where people can use whatever container they want to keep their recyclables in- as long as it has a sticker on it.

The county is distributing this sticker in the mail. It is highly adhesive and highly reflective. The idea is that a person can choose a can, cart or bin, put a sticker on it and put it on the curb for recycling day.

The sticker will identify the contents as recyclable to the trash collector.

The goal is to improves recycling participation by making recycling convenient.

Blue and clear recycling bags can still be used and bags do not need stickers because trash haulers already recognize this as recycling. Do not loose your stickers by putting them on bags.

Stickers are free and the first one will come in the mail. Need another one? Just ask your trash hauler.

The program now accepts plastics coded #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #7. Plastics coded #6 will not be accepted.
