Introduction to Permaculture

New Port Richey, Florida -- This is a 3-hour workshop that promises to give you an in-depth introduction to permaculture on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m.

If you are financially unable to pay for the classes, contact the office for volunteer time bank hours that you can trade volunteering in Kinship Garden for workshop.

This introductory course to Permaculture will give you the design tools to start designing your home to be more conscious design to create sustainable human habitats.

Prescribed burn at Lake Dan Preserve

Odessa, Florida -- If you see smoke in the area today, no need to worry. The Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department is conducting a prescribed burn at Lake Dan Preserve, located 19136-B Tyler Road, in Odessa.

The burn will last one day. The purpose of the burn is ecological.

New Port Richey, Florida -- If you love wonderful plants, flowers and beautiful designs for the holidays, here's your chance to get some goodies!

The Elfers Centennial Garden Club Plant Sale is coming up on Saturday, Dec. 15.

The sale is in New Port Richey at 5744 Moog Road at 9 a.m.

A large variety of plants will be available, ranging from perennials to Veggie's starts and herbs to trees, shrubs, tropical to Florida natives.

The admission into the sale is free!

Also available are Butterfly and hummingbird plants.

Boil water notice lifted Port Richey area

Boil water notice lifted Port Richey area

Port Richey, Florida -- The precautionary boil water notice issued by the City of Port Richey on Nov. 1 has been lifted.

The City says the bacteriological survey of the water indicates the water is safe for use. The water service in the affected service area included Senate Manor and all City of Port Richey water service customers to the north of Senate Manor.

Pasco County, Florida -- During the Pasco EcoFest, an Eco Mart will be set up in the courtyard at the New Port Richey Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Several programs are also on the docket that day taking place inside the library including one program presented by Dell deChant, senior instructor and associate chair of the Religious Studies department at USF in Tampa. His program topic is “The Local Dimensions of Ecology” and it begins at 10 a.m.
