Pasco Police Athletic League Football and Cheerleading camp

Pasco County, Florida -- The 2nd Annual Pasco police Athletic League (PPAL) football and cheer camp has been scheduled for Saturday, July 20 at Arthur Engle Park.

The camp is open to any child ages 4-13 who are interested in developing their football or cheerleading skills.  Although the camp is sponsored by PPAL, youths do not have to be members of the league in order to attend.

Cost for kids to participate in the day-long event is only $15.  Adults and non-participants can attend for free.  Camp registration begins at 9 a.m., and the camp events will start at 10:00 a.m.

Several important features of the camp include:

  • An expo of the USA Football standards of the new Heads Up program being used in PPAL.  The instruction is designed to improve tackling skills, increase safety and limit helmet-to-helmet contact, lessening the chance for injury, including concussion.

  • A NFL mini-combine, with instruction by the Cooper Speed-Strength School, which has improved the skills of athletes from the collegiate, Olympic, and professional sports level.

  • Guest speaker Anthony Becht, NFL first round draft pick and former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and New York Jets tight end.

  • Prize drawings

  • Multiple football and cheer camp stations

Profits from the camp are used to offset insurance costs for the PPAL youth participants during the regular season, which runs from August until November.

There is still time to register for this season, and interested parents can visit the PPAL website at www.PascoPAL.com.
