Bullyproof: The Musical!

Bullyproof: The Musical!

Dade City, Florida -- Hugh Embry Library presents Bullyproof the Musical, an entertaining show with a powerful message, by the popularly acclaimed local acting company Play N Around Theatre.

Kids who never would have been bullied in the past seem to be the targets of bullying today. With so many ways to bully kids now, even cyber-bullying on the Internet, it is important for us to spread the word that it is not OK to bully others or to let yourself be bullied.

Families are encouraged to join us for a great show full of fun and humor. Kids will really listen to the message while enjoying the music and comedy. The Friends of Hugh Embry Library are funding this performance and offering it to the public for free.

Free Guardian Ad Litem training for final volunteers of the year

Free Guardian Ad Litem training for final volunteers of the year

Pasco County, Florida -- If you are looking for a chance to make an invaluable difference in the life of a child, or to expand your volunteer efforts, becoming a Guardian Ad Litem may be worth considering. Citizens of all backgrounds can be trained to hold this position, and the training is still available at no charge for qualified individuals and will prepare individuals to be a court appointed special advocate for an abused, abandoned or neglected child.

Then, working as a team with a program attorney and a case coordinator, the GAL would become familiar with all the aspects of the child's circumstances and make recommendations to the court to ensure a safe, caring, stable and permanent home. The Guardian ad Litem volunteers are critical to the Program and most importantly to abused and neglected children living through a confusing and frightening time in their lives.

The last 30-hour training session for Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) volunteer hopefuls in Pasco County this year will begin on September 30. Registration is now open until the capacity of thirty Pasco residents is filled or until Monday, September 12.

10 News helps Lutz woman get some help for disabled son

LUTZ, Fla. - 10 News has helped a Bay Area woman get some help for her disabled son, who suffers from cerebral palsy and is legally blind.

The mother, Erica Robinson, reached out to us because her son's disability benefits had ended. She says a few months ago she got a new job and started making more money. That made her ineligible for the benefits.

Robinson says she applied to another state program, but they don't cover all of her son's needs, which includes diapers and nursing care. Her health insurance through her employer doesn't cover that as well.
