Pasco, Florida -- Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco invites the public to attend the 2013 Pasco Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service, scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

The event will take place on the north lawn of the Historic Courthouse, located at 37918 Meridian Avenue in Dade City.

The memorial honors eight officers killed in the line of duty in Pasco County from 1909 with Deputy Sheriff Shelly Nicks to 2011 when Hernando County Deputy Sheriff John Mecklenburg was killed in Pasco County while pursuing a driver on U.S. Highway 41.

"The recent killing of MIT Police Office Sean Collier during the bombings in Boston and the death last week of Master Deputy Shane Robbins in Polk County remind us how quickly our brothers and sisters who wear the uniform can be taken away from us," said Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco. "This is a time all law enforcement and the community can come together and honor the sacrifice those officer's and their families have given to make us all safer."
