Pasco welcomes county administrator candidates

Pasco County, Florida --The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners will host four candidates vying to become the County’s top staff member on May 23-24. One of the final four candidates will replace County Administrator John Gallagher, who will retire on June 1, after more than 31 years of public service.

The final four candidates are current Pasco County Chief Assistant County Administrator Michele Baker; Irving, Texas City Manager Tomas Gonzalez; Hillsborough County Director of Strategic Planning Eric Johnson; and former Escambia County Administrator Randy Oliver.

County staff will introduce the candidates to Pasco County with a bus tour on Thursday afternoon. The tour will be followed by a reception for the candidates and community leader volunteers to be held at Fox Hollow Golf Club at 6 p.m.

On Friday, May 24, at 1 p.m. the Board of County Commissioners will hold a public meeting to interview the candidates at the Saint Leo University School of Business Building, TECO Hall Room, which is open to the public. The session will also be taped by Pasco County Government TV. The public meeting is tentatively scheduled to be replayed on:

• Saturday, May 25, at 4:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
• Sunday, May 26, at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
• Monday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Update as of 3:42 p.m. Saturday, May 25- the first replay will resume later on Saturday. The time is to be announced. Once the replay starts on Saturday it will replay until 5 a.m. Sunday morning. The normal schedule will resume at that time.)

On Tuesday, May 28, the Board of County Commissioners will hold a Special Board Meeting at 1:30 p.m. to discuss the hiring of the next County Administrator. The meeting will be at the Pasco County Historic Courthouse in Dade City and will be “live” on Pasco County Government TV.
