Prom beer bash gets teacher in trouble

New Port Richey, Florida -- Student Robby Thompson says J.W. Mitchell High School teacher Samantha Murchie is kinda well-know. This Tuesday, she is really well-known after investigators say she took part on after prom party where beer and liquor were readily available to Mitchell High students.

The bash was held at the home of former Mitchell High secretary Lynn Worker, who 10 News was told made a deal with the 40 or so kids who showed up.

"From what I understand, she took their keys and apparently that meant they could drink, which is absurd, " said one man who's daughter attends Mitchell High.

She told him all about the party and all the details. He's shocked any parent would think a teen beer bash is okay, but found it even more egregious that current teacher Murchie participated.

10 News knocked on the door of Murchie's Trinity home. There was no answer, but we heard people talking inside. We tried calling her telephone number from the street, but again, no answer.

"Outrageous. It's simply outrageous. That's the only word for it," said another parent.

10 News confirming Murchie was placed on administrative leave, but we also learned she has had issues before, including a reprimand for excessively vulgar behavior at school football games and for violating Pasco school's code of ethics which resulted in a two-day suspension.
