Pasco commissioner to hold town hall on SR 54/56 corridor

New Port Richey, Florida -- Pasco County Commissioner Kathryn Starkey will host a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the transportation needs, the planned growth and history of development in the State Road 54/56 corridor.

Pasco County staff will be in attendance to give an overview of transportation analyses and alternatives for SR 54/56. This will be the first of many community discussions on the possible solutions for the congestion in the area.

Father speaks out after daughter is killed by texting and driving

New Port Richey, Florida -- "After a half hour, I knew she should have been home."

Steve Augello is telling his story to over 1,100 Gulf High School students about how his 17-year-old daughter Allie was killed by a driver that was texting.

Augello says, "The feeling that went through my heart was like an arrow, like I lost half my heart."

Augello has given this speech to at least 15 high schools, in hopes of getting through to young people and old.

Missing Land O' Lakes teen found

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- UPDATE: The Missing Child Alert sent out for Zach Brown has been canceled.

A missing child alert has been issued for 15-year-old Zach Brown.

He was last seen in the area of 3000 Downan Point Drive.

He is described as a white male, 5'6", 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt with an elaborate black design on the front, dark gray or black jeans, or possibly shorts, with bright red high top shoes.

Minister part of tragic church trip discusses victims

New Port Richey, Florida - For the first time, a youth minister who was part of a caravan headed to a youth retreat speaks about the horrific van accident that left two of their church members dead.

The church van blew its tire and flipped on Interstate 75 on Friday killing the driver and a passenger. Another adult, and seven children, were also in the van.

Hiring center now open for new Tampa Walmart store

Tampa, Florida -- Wal-Mart has opened a temporary hiring center in Lutz for applicants who would like to work at the company's new store in Tampa.

The store will be hiring approximately 300 full-time and part-time associates. The majority of new associates will begin work in April to help prepare the store for its grand opening.

Vigil held for 2 killed in church van accident

New Port Richey, Florida -- Hundreds of church members attended a special prayer service this afternoon for the victims of the First Baptist Church van accident. Two adults were killed and seven children were hurt, one critically.

The accident happened on I-75 near U.S. 90 yesterday afternoon. They were on their way to a church camp in Georgia.

The prayer service lasted over an hour at First Baptist Church. Many people walked out of the doors with tears in their eyes, including Pastor Guy Sanders, who says he has been crying since he found out.

New Port Richey church mourns those who died

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Florida -- Two adults are dead and eight others, including children, are hurt after a church van crashed in Columbia County Friday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 8:15 a.m. on I-75 at the on-ramp to US Highway 90 outside Lake City.
