House fire double homicide result of drug dispute

Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has determined the murder of two young women in New Port Richey was over crack cocaine. 

Firefighters responded to Pine Street on February 3, where the bodies of Jessica Keith and her roommate, Amber Lynn Jordan, both 24, were found in a burned down home.

Pasco jail opens unit for military veterans

LAND O'LAKES, Florida (AP) - The Pasco County Jail now has a housing unit dedicated to military veterans.

The unit which holds 32 inmates opened Tuesday. It will offer a range of services for veterans, including counseling, rehabilitation, job placement, life skills and outreach programs.

The idea came from Capt. Ray Revell, who heard of a similar program during a leadership training trip to FBI headquarters in Quantico, Va.

The University of South Florida is bringing its veteran therapy program to the jail at no cost to Pasco County.

Chiropractic office shooting now a self-defense case

Holiday, Florida - The doctor who the Pasco County Sheriff's Office calls a "person of interest" in a shooting at a chiropractor's office was questioned and released Monday evening.

10 News was there when Dr. Lenny Linardos arrived at his Tarpon Springs home on Bayshore Drive Monday evening.

Patients and doctors get together to beat cancer

St. Petersburg, Florida -- They're not just living, they are thriving, and they thank Moffitt Cancer Center for being a lifesaver.

Patients and survivors had lunch with doctors today at Fox Hollow Golf and Country Club. It gave them a chance to hear about the newest advancements to beat cancer.

They all credit the Moffitt's teams for giving them hope for a better life.

Moffitt is a not for profit, and registration is open for the 9th annual Miles for Moffitt at USF.

10 Investigates Pasco 911 and finds major problems

New Port Richey, Florida -- Dona Fernandes is Pasco County's public safety communication director. She was recently hired to merge operators taking police and fire 911 calls.

"I think it has substantially improved since I've walked in the door," Fernandes told 10 Investigates.

The merging process requires that 911 operators are cross-trained to handle both types of calls because each type of call has specific procedures and guidelines.

10 News gets action against school bus stop sign runners

Pasco County, Florida -- State Road 54 always busy, especially at 8 in the morning. And on this morning, Doug Drysdale and his sons, 11-year-old Ilan and baby Eben, wait for the school bus wondering if today will be any different.

Drysdale has been dealing with concerns for Ilan's safety while getting on the bus. One morning he captured one car on his cell phone ignoring the school bus' stop sign.
