Man shot at Pasco County spine center

Holiday, Florida -- Shots rang out Monday inside a Pasco County chiropractor's office leaving one man in critical condition and the doctor who owns the office a person of interest.

Just before 11:00 a.m., witnesses reported gunshots being fired at the West Coast Spine and Injury Center on U.S. 19 in Holiday.

The 911 call came from across the street, where two Pasco deputies happen to be sitting. Quick to arrive, they found 34-year-old Jaime Velez shot multiple times.

Pasco baseball complex developer 'in talks' with two MLB teams

Pasco County, Florida -- "This has a huge financial impact for us," said Ed Caum of Pasco Tourism.

Try $78 million per year in net gross. Batting cages, restaurants, retail, on property dorms and loads of baseball fields with a projected 600 to 700,000 visitors each year are what Pasco is pitching to major league teams.

"Pasco County is open for sports business. We have the highways to move people in and about the area we also have the dirt so there is the opportunity for other sports growth," said Caum.

Pasco wants Major League team for new baseball complex

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Pasco County wants to fill its new sports complex with a big league baseball team, and they'll make a pitch to become a Spring Training destination Thursday.

Major League Baseball teams from around the country practice and play in Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, and other cities on the west and east coast during Spring Training.

Now, Pasco County wants to get in on the action.

Contractor delays cause frustrations on I-75

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- When the I-75 widening contract was issued March 14, 2011 for the portion between SR-54 and SR-56, 565 days were allotted.

FDOT approved about 300 extra days for things like weather and holidays, and that takes us to Summer of 2013. But the contractor, Better Roads Incorporated, is 200 days behind that, costing them $6,000 per day and you nearly seven extra months of headaches.

Home sellers get creative with skyrocketing flood insurance

Hudson, Florida -- Lawmakers are digging in their heels in the fight to delay or stop massive flood insurance rate hikes. On Tuesday, Congressman Gus Bilirakis led the Tampa Bay area delegation in sending a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner urging him to bring legislation to the floor that provides immediate relief to homeowners.

Judge: No bond for Reeves in theater shooting

Pasco County, Florida (WTSP/USA TODAY) -- No bond. That's the ruling from Judge Pat Siracusa at the bond hearing for Curtis Reeves, the retired Tampa Police captain who fatally shot a theatergoer in a confrontation over texting.

On Friday, the judge heard arguments from both sides to determine if Reeves should receive bond. 

Deputies bust couple in massive mail theft

PASCO COUNTY -- More than 900 people in four counties have fallen victim to mail theft. Pasco County Sheriff's deputies confiscated more than 3,000 pieces of mail, stolen they say, by 30-year-old Brian Chipman.
