Senator hosts essay contest to find next Senate Page

New Port Richey -- State Senator Mike Fasano has the opportunity to appoint one student to serve as a Senate Page during the upcoming 2012 meeting of the Florida Legislature.  The page will serve for one week in Tallahassee and will work throughout the Capitol Complex.

“Over the years I have sponsored dozens of students to serve in Tallahassee during the legislative session,” Senator Fasano states.  “The young people who have had this opportunity have seen state government first hand. They have met influential political leaders and, more importantly, have had the ability to see how laws are made.”

Senator Fasano is conducting an essay contest to choose the Senate page.  The contest is open to all students 15 to 18 years of age in public, private, or homeschooling programs.  The contest begins immediately and will end at 5:00 PM on November 7, 2011.  Students must submit an essay of at least 250 words answering the question: “What do you think we can do to help improve our economy in Florida?”
