Land O'Lakes, FL -- Early voting for the Jan. 31 Presidential Preference Primary opens on Jan. 21 - 28 with Sunday hours now available for voters who wish to cast their ballot early.

If you live in the Land O'Lakes or Lutz area, the most convenient location is the Land O'Lakes Branch Library, at 2818 Collier Parkway, in Land O'Lakes.

Make sure you bring a photo and signature ID.

New Port Richey considers alcohol ordinance

New Port Richey, Florida - It's a hot-button issue in many communities - alcohol ordinances.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, it will be discussed in New Port Richey.

The New Port Richey City Council will consider a first hearing of Ordinance 2012-1983, which allows the consumption of alcoholic beverages purchased at local venues to be consumed off-premise, in specific City rights-of-way, during special events.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers.

Public input is welcomed and appreciated.

Sheriff Chris Nocco announces intention to run for Pasco Sheriff

Pasco County, FL -- Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco has announced he plans to formally file his paper work to seek election to the post he was appointed.  

"Pasco County is facing the same issues as a large metropolitan county.  I believe we, the Sheriff's Office, are headed in the right direction to ensure the safety of our citizens," Nocco stated in his release to the media.

Pasco County, FL -- The County announced on Dec. 23, the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) rejected eight of the ten recommendations made by Special Magistrate Mark R. Sherman. 

As a result of the Union’s rejection of those recommendations, the County Commission will be required to conduct a public hearing to resolve the Union demands for:

Pasco County, FL -- Brian E. Corley, Supervisor of Elections, announced that beginning today, Dec. 27, voter turnout for the Jan. 31, 2012 Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) will be posted daily on the elections' office website, pascovotes.com.

The voter turnout numbers will represent those who have returned a vote-by-mail ballot and are considered unofficial results.

Supervisor of Elections now accepting scholarship applications

Pasco County, FL -- Supervisor of Elections Brian E. Corley is now accepting applications for the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) Scholarship.

The association will award one scholarship statewide to a Political Science/Public or Business Administration or Journalism/Mass Communications Major.  Applicants must have finished two years of junior college or undergraduate work, be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student in a senior college or university in Florida, have been a resident of Florida for two years, and demonstrate a financial need.
